This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of methods for working with students with autism and intellectual disabilities. The emphasis is on the application of video modeling and visual schedules as educational support. Participants will gain skills in creating and implementing educational materials that meet the needs of students through theoretical and practical sessions.

Day 1: Introduction and Preparation

  • Arrival of participants
  • Welcome Meeting: Introduction of participants and overview of the course program
  • Presentation of the course and its goals
  • Presentation of the course and instructors: Brief overview of the course and expected outcomes
  • Tour of Zagreb: Familiarization with cultural landmarks

Day 2: Introduction to Working with Special Needs Students

  • Lecture 1: Understanding autism and intellectual disabilities in education
  • Lecture 2: Theories and methods of supporting students with autism and intellectual disabilities
  • Workshop 1: Using visual schedules to support students with special needs
  • Practical Exercises: Developing and applying visual schedules in real educational scenarios

Day 3: Video Modeling and Its Applications

  • Lecture 3: Introduction to video modeling: Theory and application in education
  • Workshop 2: Creating video models: Basic filming techniques and preparation
  • Workshop 3: Developing and applying video models for educating students with special needs
  • Visit to a local school: Exchange of experiences with colleagues and discussion on the application of video modeling in education

Day 4: Creating Educational Materials

  • Full-Day Workshop 4: Filming and producing video materials for educational purposes
  • Workshop on Copyrights: Basics of rights protection and legal use of media content in education
  • Visit to the WorldSkills Croatia 2025 Opening Ceremony

Day 5: Editing and Finalization

  • Workshop 5: Discussion of filming experiences and review of recorded material
  • Workshop 6: Basics of editing: Using software tools for video editing
  • Workshop 7: Post-production: Adding sound, subtitles, and special effects
  • Group Work: Editing and finalizing educational video materials

Day 6: Cultural Day – Customized Tour Based on Participants’ Preferences

  • Organization of activities will be tailored to the preferences and interests of course participants. Options include exploring Zagreb’s iconic landmarks or taking an excursion to the breathtaking Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Please note that these activities are not included in the course fee and may incur additional costs.
  • Attendance at the WorldSkills Croatia Closing Ceremony

Day 7: Final Day and Evaluation

  • Presentation of Final Projects: Showcasing and analyzing educational video materials produced during the workshops
  • Discussion: Feedback and joint evaluation of the course
  • Certificate Presentation: Formal award of course completion certificates
  • Final Meeting: Reflection on the course and plans for implementing acquired knowledge in home schools
  • Idea Exchange and Future Collaboration: Networking and planning future projects among participants
